Event ID: 1428499 Event Started: 9/29/2009 7:00:00 PM ---------- Please standby for real time captions >> How everyonedoes his Miranda Kennedy with NDI Inc. and I will be serving as today's house and be presenting 32nd training. Along with Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) I will -- I would like to welcome you to today's presentation. This will consist mostly of sharing the 32nd training with you all of my discussion in a question and answer session. >> I need to address a few logistical details with the webinar platform we are using for today's presentation. This will be helpful for those of you who are new to this. For those of you who are not new to it, you may want to go grab a cup of water or coffee. If you have documents open on your desktop such as Internet sites, Outlook or other e-mail, I was just that you close the applications because that will cause a delay in the way you see the screen in front of you. It can take a memory and slow down the lazy information and the 32nd training that we are presenting. >> Like to present those to you in real-time as much as possible and if your computer is older and does not have a lot of memory, you might experience some delays. You might want to take that into account as we talk about something that may not have shown up on your screen quite yet. If you close down those applications, the other quite good the we'll see what we are addressing. If you have any technical difficulties at any point during the webinar, I'm going to give you are WebEx support technician phone number. >> It is one -- 866 -- 863 -- three and 04. One -- 866 -- 863 -- revenge 04. >> Also you will note in the lower right-hand side of your screen that we have captioning available for participants who are deaf or hard of hearing. You can close the stand if you don't want to see this by minimizing the media of your screen are you can make the media viewer window with the captioning bigger by minimizing the window above it. >> The chat window, the question-and-answer window, all of those windows. You can figure that out to suit your purposes. During the presentation, at one point, we're going to leave the webinar platform in front of you, but the presenters desktop will have the captioning on the right-hand side of the screen. >> This webinar is being recorded. It will be posted on the DP navigator.net page and it is permanent place on the training page. We will also have the transcript, PowerPoint and all the materials referenced on today's webinar posted to those pages as well as to the navigator resource page and I have a link with that later on in the PowerPoint presentation so you can bookmark that as a favor. >> To let you know, joining me and presented the 32nd training five part series on thedisability awareness month or, Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) And Kevin Nickerson (NY) is a navigator in New York and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) is a navigator in California and they are both navigators to help introduce and develop the concept of the 32nd training. >> I would also like to acknowledge contributions to the 32nd minute workgroup and providing feedback. >> I'm going to move onto her training here today. >> The agenda that we are going to be covering today, we will be covering what our 32nd training? To her waist to use 32nd training is? The walk-through of the five part series as well as discussing and showing how to make those your own and then we will be talking about and sharing tips and resources and sharing the distribution schedule and into the question-and-answer session and open up the lines. We want to hear your feedback, if you're using these, if you have any questions or comments. >> The other thing I want to point out is, in the question-and-answer, as we are going through, and sharing this information, if you have questions or comments, please fill free to submit those in the queue and they will address those as we move along. >> We may also open up the lines a couple of different points. The one thing I do until everyone know, for many of you, if you have been on these trainings before, and you are familiar with the 30 second training concept. You may have been on earlier this month when we share the ticket training, so some of this is going to be a refresher course for you. >> It really is helpful, probably the most trouble, the first two pieces, what are 30 second training and how to use 30 second training We will be going over those because we understand have a number of new navigators were on the call with us. >> We want to welcome all of you today. We're excited to have you join us and I think you'll find these 30 second training are an excellent tool and resource for you to begin getting information out to your staff, your partners and your employers especially in the month of October, the national this Billie employment awareness month. >> Having said that, let's discuss what are 30 second trainings The 30 second trainings are sent as an interactive PowerPoint to target audiences via e-mail. They are short, 30 seconds, it is why we call them 30 seconds. So hopefully the idea is that people are getting these in their e-mail boxes, it is a fun, informational piece for them. >> It should not take them too long to get through. This is one of many tools the navigators have in their toolbox. It is certainly not the only one. These trainings can be a stand-alone training or can be used as part of a more formal training. >> They are designed to be fast and informative. And really capture the attention of a one-stop partner in this case employers because we know they are very busy. >> We want to maximize our time with them. This is one way of doing that. >>Of course 30 second trainings do cover a wide range of disability and employment issues. We have different series, an original set of 16, and they are all located on our navigator.net website. >>Company is these 30 second trainings Are our number ways to use them. You can use and to introduce topics in information for the very first time. You can send out targeted information. That is relevant to specific staff and partners. But using your list serves. That is using your discretion and your judgment and he's an exotic. >> You will see some of these are very fun and can be informal and you maybe want to know where you are sending them out to and how they might be received. See you as a navigator need to look at these and see who will receive them, how will it be received and how best to use these. >> It is one of many tools for you. >> It can be used as a stand-alone training. If you can't get time of your staff, you can use this to at least get some attention from them and drive them to a great resource. Everyone of these 30 second trainings has an excellent resource at the very end people can get more information. >> It also provide your contact information at the ends what reminds them of who you are and that you are there to help. >> Anyway, let's go ahead and actually do the walk-through with Kevin at this point. That is a pretty good brief overview and if anyone has any questions or details, if you are new, you can follow put Toni Costales - Servin (CA) and Kevin Nickerson (NY) and myself. The contact information will be at the end. The Tamil walk-through this, you'll have a pretty good idea.So Kevin Nickerson (NY) let's go ahead money taken away. >> Thank you Miranda Kennedy I get the fun part. Take you for joining us today. Let me go through a couple of housekeeping details. I like to ask questions and make this as interactive as possible. >> If you can see the little arrow over here, it is pointing at a hand. >> If you have a participant part of this box open, there should be a hand here. If we ask questions along the way, if you click that, it raises your hand, if you cook it again and lowers your hand. We may try that. >> I don't know how to shut that off Miranda Kennedy Okay. >> We are going to go to the series that we are pretty excited about this. I look at the DP navigator site the other day and we have over 30 trainees available on the site. >> Given how long it takes to create these, that may not sound like a large number but folks on a workgroup and certainly Toni Costales - Servin (CA) and I can tell you that represents a lot of work. In a lot of people's parts. >> I appreciate that. We are pretty excited about that. >> I'm going to walk you through the five that we have createdfor NDEAM we hope that you will use. >> Will see you later, a proposed schedule that we have laid out. For the days that we will want to see the sent out. So we can all be Chordata. >> This is the first one in the way this works, if this is your first time here, all the way through, there are buttons that you click on. So it is interactive. Everyone of them has an opening screen. >> Probably a lot of veterans on the line have been on the skull before. I will say we asked for a question, by the way, and you raise your hand, the only way we can in the airline, to get a response from you, as if you are synced in, which means you have called them properly and use the codes. >> It will show your name in the phone next to you. Move on to the first one. >> So the first one asks what is the national disappoint Bolivia planus awareness month? Tran4, a through D., A. is a movie, not to be confused with National Lampoon's vacation. That is a tempting choice. And let her be, never to increase the awareness of the contribution -- of workers with disabilities since 1945, and in arrangement of activities by the ODP or both BMC are correct. >> As always, I'm going to pick on Toni Costales - Servin (CA) and Miranda Kennedy first. >> What do you think? Can you give me a possible answer? >> I am going to go with the most obvious correct answer. It has to be the National Lampoon vacation. >> I can always count on you Toni Costales - Servin (CA) . Thank you very much, I can appreciate that. >> We seem to be experiencing technical difficulties at this time. I'm going to reload this one guys. >> This was the one without sound, right Kevin Nickerson (NY) Yes it is. >> While you are reloading, we have versions of this, with and without sound and that might be a good time to discuss that. Once we are showing in front of you right now don't have sound. The want to sound are very very fun. You might want to consider whether or not you want to share a version with sound in her office, and people are in cubicles, that might be distracting for them. >> It also might be a good reason why you might want to send them on Friday because Monday, defending versions of town might be a little more distracting. >> I think it's working now Kevin Nickerson (NY) Let's see if it does. We will have to test this one off line folks. We have found a couple of glitches in these by bringing them out. For everyone to see. With plenty of tennis today. We don't like it happened that way but sometimes it does and we find some glitches. >> We have gone through these with what we consider a fine tooth comb but every, the together differently. >> Good thing to think about also, as well it does work off of RGB navigator teach DP navigator site, it worked for us earlier with ticket, nurseries there, but it might be a webinar platform itself. >> We are going to work through this and see if we can figure it out. >> We can also go off-line into the desktop share, Kevin Nickerson (NY) if you think that will be easier. >> If it is just this one, that is one thing, if they all start acting up, I'm going to have to do that. >> Okay. >> As far as Toni Costales - Servin (CA) response, no, I'm sorry, Toni Costales - Servin (CA) but I can always community answers that aren't even close. Thank you very much. >>And of a possible response to this? >> It has to be, I'm going to say it must be a range of activities promoted by the US Department of Labor office to disability and employment business policy because it sounds very official. >> We are going to have to check this one off-line to see what is up with the buttons. So bear with us. >> Let's try this one. There it is. That is what that will come up at Shea. While now you know who is responsiblefor NDEAM Try again to find out what this is all about. While I was close. >>Thank you Miranda Kennedy That was a good response. I'm going to pick wetter B. The upper to the select the awareness for the workers with disabilities since 1945. That makes sense doesn't it? >> No that's not the one. Right now, I manually for being -- looking through these to show you it will look like. It will work through the buttons but I'm not sure that the training are the platform but will find in this sector will move onto the next one. Please try again, this is the mission of NDEAM there's more to it. >> Finally, it is littered he, both wetter B. and let her see. Which says correct. Various programs carried out throughout the month, highlight employment barriers need to be addressed and removed. ODP provides information on money can be used for national visibility and employment awareness month as well as other programs threat the years our publications webpage, if you notice that is highlighted in red which means it is a live link it will be for folks want to get this training. There is another website here at TOL.-- TOL as well. >> The poster. That is the other thing we did there without that was kind of cool. We put a link here so folks can order the poster. It will be late but if they did know about it, and they did not make it do that, they will be prepared the next time around. This is going to take you, a link that will take you right to the site to order that. >> The home button will take you home. When everything is working properly. But the urban us have used their hand. Everybody enjoy those technical difficulties this experience? Raise your hand. I'm glad I am here to entertain folks. >> Oh well. Lots of support. >> I like this guy. Put those hands down. I'm going to pick on you and embarrass you in front of everybody. Thank you. There are still a couple of Hansa. >> Hansa. Ronnie, but your hand out. Thank you very much. >> Let's move onto the second one. Okay. Here is a second training, what's he ever buttons work on this earned by moving to the desktop share. >> This one says working when the answers to your questions about reasonable accommodation? >> We were real turkey on this one because if you notice, reasonable accommodation is underlined. And it is not working. >> Apparently it is kind of good she today folks. -- -- that is just the way going to be. If you click on reasonable accommodations on the sly, does take you to another site. >> It will show you what that means. I'm going to take you there and she would look like. >>And Kevin Nickerson (NY) also, Toni Costales - Servin (CA) has her desktop share up so those buttons are tricky, you can have her walk you through that is Yasser the captioning a. >> I can do that and you just tell me what to do. >> I will to you what to do. I can do that. >> I'm going to pass the privileges over to Toni Costales - Servin (CA) You have the ball. >> Technology is wonderful, but sometimes when it doesn't cooperate, it becomes amusing to you. >> Hopefully we are educating everyone by doing problem-solving on the fly. >>Where is Toni Costales - Servin (CA) in that picture? >> Upper left-hand corner. >> Now I can choose their hands now, unfortunately. >> That's disappointing. >> Sorry about that. While we will render the second one is way and go back to the other version and see if it works. >> So we are doing this sector one. >> -- -- we are doing the second one this way. >> That fills the screen at least. That's nice. It is probably coming in. >>There you go Toni Costales - Servin (CA) >> I want to show the show, but it seems to cover up the -- >> It converts it from the a -- yeah it's going to make it a show. So that is not going to work. >> To have indigestion? We could take it from there. I will look through the slides. >> Let's go ahead and close out. >> Let's take it off of just top share and we will go back to what we did. We tried. Sorry folks. >> Just when we Inc. we have this webinar thing figured out. >> This is how it is going to look. Really. It is going to the site. -- -- it is going to look this way. >> I promise they are interactive and only take 30 seconds. It must be the platform. >> If you have been on is called before, have we ever experienced problems like this before? See, no hands. Thank you very much. >> A couple of smarter looks out there. >> If you want to giveback the ball, you can do that. >> Okayyou have the ball Kevin Nickerson (NY) >> That is just the host controls. If you are wondering what that means. The first time I heard that I do know what you're talking about. If you click on reasonable accommodations in the sly, this is where it's going to take you. Two a description this is reasonable accommodation is any change are desperate to a job or work environment that permits a qualified applicant or employee with a disability to participate in a job application process. To perform essential functions of a job or to enjoy the benefits and privileges of employment able to those enjoyed by employees without disabilities. >> You can imagine we've got there because that would be a little hard to squeeze into one or question really is. Which is all about work where can you find answers to your questions about reasonable accommodation? >> I need a couple of volunteers and a way to raise your hand, I am going to and meet you and have you guess for me what you think it is. Don't be shy. >> She is the fastest hand. >> I'm going to go ahead and I need it -- -- >> It has to be Google. I Google everything. >> Thank you. Let's try Google. That's close but I'm sorry. It's not the best choice. There is a better one. Keep trying. >> I will. >> Thank you very much for that. >> When they have a very new recruit. >> I'm going to choose Kathy. >> I might have to -- >> Kathy doesn't have a phone icon next to her. I will stick with you. Go for it. What is your second option? >> Crystal ball. >> No but thank you. That is good. And it has good music and is pretty cool. >> It says crystal ball, really question mark that is better for predicting lottery numbers. Personally, that doesn't work either. Why do we attempt something new a try again? >> I like that. >> I thought that was clever. >> One more try. You know what Toni Costales - Servin (CA) you have been silent, what you think it is? >> Hatley Arty den Wikipedia? >> We have not. >> Wikipedia possibly? We'll have some information for you but will require cleaner to the holiday standards. If anyone has gone to Wikipedia, you would understand that. >> Thank you for your contribution. >> Does anybody have? If you have called in any of Lincoln using the code and entered all those codes? We are going to be able to work with you. >> For just a quick second, I'm going to take the ball back. I want to show everyone this page again one more time with the directions. >> On the screen in front of you, give you the directions. We would love to have interaction here and we know some folks are Midwest. What might've happened is he may have come on and called into the one 800-number without using the access code or entering your attendee ID number. If you want to very quickly go up quickly information button that will bring up the phone number and access code you need to enter any attendee ID number. It will only take you a second to dial back in. >> Per example Cheryl from the state of Arizona or she is raising her hand, we'll have a phone icon next to it and we can call on her so she can illustrate her knowledge of the navigator in answering 32nd training. >> I just wanted to point that out really quick and Kevin Nickerson (NY) I'm going to pass it back to you now. >> Awesome. You are seeing the screen again with the choices that are possible. I did see a lot of hands in the attendee list that there are hands with phones connect to those. Don't be shy if you the phone icon next to you. No one right now. Cheryl I want to work with you. If you don't have a phone icon, you can also type into the crew -- into the question-and-answer as they go along. >> We have Lynn in Colorado. >> Lynn how are you doing? >> I am great. >> Awesome. >> There is only one left. >> I know that. >> Good choice. >> The job accommodation network. >> Very good. That is correct. Jan can assist in answering questions and providing information related to 88 title I, employment and reasonable accommodations. It can be accessed as follows a we have a link to Jan and we have a poster still here provokes to order that 2009 poster. That is linked directly to the site. >> That is awesome. That is the second training. We will see we can get to the third without negligence. >> Just out of curiosity, have you ever use the job accommodation network before? >> Yes I have. I am one of the new DPN I worked in January this year and was on my first experiences working with an employer who had questions about a what was it? Fragrance sensitivity issue. >> I called another DPN in the state of Colorado and sent out an e-mail to them and asked them for some feedback and they led me directly to the job accommodation network which was a perfect solution to the problem for the employer. It worked great. >> Thank you I am glad you found that a good for the other navigators in Colorado taking you there. >> Radio. Thank you. >> Very good. Thank you. >> I just figured out something that we do differently when we were creating the series. And Toni Costales - Servin (CA) it has to do with the way that we set up the click to advanced slide. It means nothing to you all out there but it might be something that we embedded it has changed its interactivity on the webinar. What's keep trying. >> Our third one is why higher and visuals with disabilities? Let's see if there is anyone out there with a phone on Khan -- -- phone icon. >> If I want to suggest that sure all is you want to participate this you can use the Q. and A. says she can't get her phone line to her. >> That has happened to many more people than just euro by the way. >> Thank you Cheryl. >> We have Christine Morris. >> Hello Christine. >> How are you doing? What do you think? Why hire individuals with disabilities? >> Well if the law. >> I'm going to redo the all of them. -- -- I'm going to redo all of them. A return on investment when it goes beyond profit. The third is the animals on the rate of individuals with disabilities is really high. >> You say if the law. >> It's working. Sort of. And it says please try again. While title I of the ADA protects qualified individuals from discrimination, an employer should look at candidates who have happen to have a disability as they would any other job candidate. >> Thank you Christine. That was awesome. >> It worked great you are linked in. >> Anyone else want to take a crack at us? >> It looks like we have Jana Reinhardt. >> Hello. >> What you think? >> The return on the investment, number two. >> You have to pick something different, that might be the right answer. >> You haven't played this game before have you? >> No. >> I don't play fair. I decide to play. Let's try the third one, >> No is the second one. >> You think of the secular? >> What you are right, but that's no fun. According to the national survey of consumer attitudes towards companies that hire people disabilities, that underlie because of the link. 82% of Americans knew that companies that hire -- few companies that hire people disabilities. More prefer to give their business to companies that hire people disabilities. To buy more about making the business case for recruiting, retaining, and providing people disabilities is the office of disability employment policy at our way, which is a live link, this one we did something different, this is over here in the left corner, click here to find out more about how to find qualified candidates with disabilities. >> This is cool. >> You can click here and it will take you to a box that says if you are an appointment -- an employer, the employer assistance network earned a toll-free telephone referrals as services available to assist you in locating and recruiting qualified workers with disabilities. They can be reached at the 800 number listed or by visiting the website which is also a lightning. >> Folks conclude back here because this page is important because it contains yourcontact information as a navigator which at later on this call, Toni Costales - Servin (CA) is going to tell you how to fill it in C. to make it your own. >> Something else that hasn't been covered today, at the bottom, the 30 second trainings are a collaborative effort, please contact your local DPN had a friend or colleague to this list. >> It is a national effort and we put a lot of collectors league -- effort collectively to make these trains what they are. >> As far as adding a printer a list, I know that training has a pretty good list. >> And getting bigger. >> That was Dana, right was to mark >> Thank you Dana. We are going to go back to. >> I really thought it was number three. >> Shinny feel really obligated because? >> Let's try that one and see what it says. >> Oh I'm sorry. It says while that is true, is not the reason employers should higher an individual with a disability. >> To find out more, is that the US Department of labor's bureau of labor statistics at the link which we a list of which is interesting up to date information and then go back and review all the other possible answers. That is the way we play this game. I was is giving away hard time. Like you to see all the possible answers. >> What we have learned over the years is that we can take advantage of all of the slides as we create these, even if they are the wrong answer. >>As they have gotten in, folks have learned that they click through a lot of these to see what we have said about it. Would you say that is true Toni Costales - Servin (CA) ? >> We have two more to go through. Number four, keep those hands up because I am going to count on a couple of more people here. >> Here is our fourth training. What is an example of an employer obligation and providing reasonable accommodations? Note that reasonable accommodations and a question as underlined and provides you information and additional slide and like I showed you before. >> There are three possible answers here. I really need recruits to understand how to answer my questions. >> You know what I mean. >>I am sorry, Toni Costales - Servin (CA) were you going to say something? >> I was wondering if we could involve Patrice Hall. She has had her hand. >> Are you there? >> I am. >> Give me the best response. >> Good I have it picked out are ready. >> I am linking. >> Providing espresso as needed for employees that are sleep deprived or making a workplace readily accessible and usable by people with disabilities or providing a two-day work week with full pay and benefits. What evening? What is a reasonable -- what is an example of an employer obligation of providing reasonable? >> Today's is way too short and I really like espresso. >> You think that is that? >> I think number one. >> I like believing. >> I like the way you think. Because this is my favorite picture ever. I just have to tell you I love it. It's a woman with. >> Her eyes bugged out. That is how I look in the morning after my third cup. >> It's as well, that choice gives me the jitters, try again. While caffeine has proven to increase productivity it is not the best to reasonable accommodation. >> It was a great choice the trees. I will keep you on the line. I like the way you think. >> What you think another possible answer is? >> Let's find out more about the today free money thing. >> That's what I'm talking about. >> I'm thinking about providing a two-day work week. >> While providing a flexible schedule can sometimes be useful job accommodation, this might be stretching things a bit far. >> I like that picture. >> It looks like pretty extreme you have the happening there. >> It looks like it hurts. >> It does. >>I don't like it either but we will talk to Toni Costales - Servin (CA) about that. >> It is a stretch. No pundit intended. >> Let's see if we can get a new recruit. Thank you Patrice I appreciate that. >> We have Jennifer. >> We have great with workforce development. >> Greg. >> I am here. >> What do you think the right answer is? >> Are we on a different? Oh okay. G. I will take the middle one, making a workplace readily accessible and usable. >> Thank you very much. Let's see what that says. >> You are correct. Excellent. This is one of many ways an employer can reasonably accommodate an employee. Here are some others. We get some bullet points here. Adjusting or modifying examination training material our policies, job restructuring are part-time modified work schedules, that is not include two-day work week, making a workplace readily accessible to people disabilities. And finally, to find out more, click here which is a live link to be directed to the job accommodation network. >> Employers practical guide to reasonable accommodation under the American with disability act for ADA. That is a link that will take you to that guy. In the corner, we love the link to the poster and what you think? You like that training? >> Yes that is a good one. >> I thought it was good. I know it is loaded. I appreciated. >> I like the picture of a gal too. That is great. >> That cracked me up. >> When you get in music, that will be great, when you get onto the navigator.net were that is posted, you have to check it out the computer speakers on because the music really makes it. >> Absolutely. For those of you who doesn't use the handwriting feature now, let's be honest, how many of us look like that in the morning when we get to work? Come on. Raise your hand. That's what I'm talking about. We can relate. Thank you folks. This is me. This is my coffee drinking college. -- colleagues there. >> Finally, number five in the series. Here we go. >> I like this one. What is the average cost of accommodating an employee with a disability? >> Let's have some they recruits out there. >> Joe Alvarez. >> Joe are you there? >> Yes I am. >> A. is $35 B. is zero or nothing and C. is less than $500 NZ is $1 million. >> I have this one. It is D. $1 million. >> Joe I like you. That is what I was thinking exactly. >> Heywhat a slider that Toni Costales - Servin (CA) >> 25. >> Is that the wrong one? >> That is so far from being right, it shouldn't even be a choice I have to tell you guys, if you diesel I was down, guess Osama used to joke? >> Guess what song we used, Joe, to put in here? >> I don't know. >> If I had $1 million. >> That is kind of fun. >> Thank you Joe. >> Anyone else raising their hand as their phone connected? >> Sure we have Kathy. I don't know time pronouncing your last name right. Kathy from Easter field. >> How do you pronounce it? I am so sorry. >> -- -- I know that now and I will never picture it again. >> I was going to call you Kathy E. E. >> We have three that I forgot to send them out and I did get quite a few comments as to why they had been receiving any. >> That is the best compliment for somebody who is training. >> Let's go ahead and back out. >>Canoe ahead Toni Costales - Servin (CA) and back is out of your desktop share? >> Okay. >> Thank you Toni Costales - Servin (CA) .Can you verify that we are back on the page here Kevin Nickerson (NY) >> I am looking back at your PowerPoint. >> I want to make sure we don't lose people. And I have to say Toni Costales - Servin (CA) was editing that color, I was wondering if we were going to get away without technical glitches I am interested in seeing how this goes.So Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) have both cover the preview of the training in how to make the training is your own. Which is so a port because we want you to get your name out there. They are created by the initiative for your use. We want them to be very highly polished. Tony and Kevin and I and they were group spent a lot of time and Tony is quite a perfectionist. Everything is lined up perfectly. >> Are really way to use these. We will cover the tips again to keep in mind as you are editing some of these and putting in your own contact information, don't forget to leave that statement in the 32nd training -- -- in a transcendent being a VPN collaborative and to contact the local navigator. That would be you. Tonight a friend or colleague to this list. Hopefully we will see the list growing grow.I know that Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) have as they had used the training over years. And I have to say that the 30 second trainings the page that we have those on, it is one of the biggest hits we have on our VPN navigator site. They are very will use. When you are sending or saving us, be sure to distinguish again the difference between PowerPoint PowerPoint show. As can imagine, will make it big difference. If it pops up as a PowerPoint show, they will have to go on and select viewer for the show. I want to remind you of that although Toni Costales - Servin (CA) said that. Here's something that Toni Costales - Servin (CA) did not mention. You want to cover that? Cats in the Al, that third point. >> How does and that out? The third point. >> Inky. >> We went to remember that when we send out our 30 second trainings and where sentiment is that huge list that we don't want to put all of those e-mails into the two box. Below you will see the blind carbon copy. And that way those e-mail addresses are hidden. >> Was somebody receives her e-mail, they don't get two or 300 e-mails prior to reading what they want to read. Or what they need to re-. Always remember to put your addresses in the blind copy list and not in the two-part at the e-mail address. >> Will people pull their e-mails, I have people ask me, the only CD to an ACC. A lot of times if you just click on the box, it will open a separate box that has the two, this easy, and the BCC. >> Anything goes if you click on this easy box, the BCC will drop down below and a go-ahead of the euro in e-mail address and send it to yourself and everyone else as well. >> If someone chooses to reply to you, it doesn't go to the whole huge list. >> Am I right in thinking that? >> Yes. If you have yourself in the TO: box. >> And people are responding back to you on this and hit reply to all, it will only come to you see one of the ongoing discussion and that is helpful. >> Thank you tranny. How do you access 30 second trainings materials? >> All right everyone. This is the page you want to bookmark as a favor. >> It is the VP navigator.net website. >>It is where we have all of our 30 second trainings We have the original series of 16, the mental health package, a five trainings for that, we have the six part ticket training series for that and now, we have the national disability employment awareness month training for the month of October which is great because moving forward, every October, we can use these trainings and we may need to build on it. >> That is the page right there with a link or you're going to find all of your 30 second trainings you can access on that page. You want a sneaky 30 second trainings with and without sound, you will see a document that covers everything that Toni Costales - Servin (CA) is went over about making those 30 second trainings you're on in case you forgot a step or anything like that, it's all in there. >> It is very concrete and easy-to-follow and of course if you have any questions, you are welcome to contact Kevin Nickerson (NY) , Toni Costales - Servin (CA) or myself. >> For those of you have not been only deeply navigator website it is a great resource to go to. So deeply navigator.net, click on resources, click on navigator resources and then at the bottom, you will see 30 second trainings annual click on add that brings everything a. That is the direct link right there. >> I kept talking about it in case people writing it down. I am going to go to the next slide. How do you find more information? >> One easy place to findmore permission is to check out the 30 second trainings because there are a lot of links and information every but you can also go to the deeply navigator.net site and there is another link for you. You have under navigator resources, strategies and activities a different things that navigators have done in 2006, 2007 and 2008. We have writeups of what your fellow navigators across the country have done. People have done some really interesting and different things. For the month of October national disability awareness month at disability mentoring Day which falls in the middle of October. >> There are some really good writeups and we like to talk about research and development in the DPN initiative. See what some of your fellow navigators have done. Things that my work or might not work in your area and you have some good ideas and things to work on. >> Just to let you know, at the end of the call today, the webinar today, we have a quick little survey were we're asking you if you could let us know what it is that you have been doing are preparing for the next month. You need to give us too much but if you can give us a little bit, that would be great. We are sending out a request asking for everybody to give us a more thorough breakdown. >> And of course there is ODP was chance for the office of disappointment -- disability and employment policy and those are the people that are promoting these activities. You can click on their website and of course, was it somebody talking about googling and that is the first thing you do. >> You can Google it and that will come up too. Those are some good resources for you. We want to talk about the distribution schedule. >> We have by 30 second trainings for the month of October. Here is the layout. It is in the order of the VP navigator.net site and one, two, three, four, and five, which is the first week of October, October 2, said that the first training. >> Then, number two, number three, number four, number five. We have laid at the distribution schedule. In case there is a few folks who are not on a call, we will send out reminders and the first one will go out tomorrow, Wednesday, the 30th, reminding people to send out the first training on Friday. >> Those reminder e-mails will go every Wednesday to cut me really want to do a good push with this. That was a very effective strategy we down last May Willie did May is mental health month and we had a lot of those trainings and it was good to have a coordinated effort around that. >> Now, I think we are doing good because we are only at two o'clock and we have some time to do some questions and answers. If anyone has any questions, and I think a lot of you have figured out how to use the hand. It looks like there are some Hansa. >> -- Hansa. >> I am going to unneeded Gregorio and want -- and Guam and surely can use them at the questions in the Q&A because we don't have a file icon next to you. >> It looks like Gregorio lowered his hand. >> Basically from our own intents and purposes, this looks good for the employers, as we begin to general information out to them. Any purchase to obtaining the listing, generally, just be doing networking, picking up cards are meeting them. Would there be other ways, that the other navigators are you folks would suggest to, can we advertise per instance? >> So they can get on a list name? Or how do we do a publicly question mark R. Kelly just do it with the one-to-one contacts that we are doing right now? >> You are talking about connecting with employers. Are you located in the? >> Are you working with the business services team? >> The Guam employment service. >> They have connections with local employers correct? >> Right. >> Are using those listers? >> I have not done that. They do have that ended doing one-on-one with employers as they come in or when I see them in the public. In terms of the list servers, I am going to look at that. To be able to get that done to mine so I can be able to or do we give in the PowerPoint? >> I would love to hear Kevin Nickerson (NY) are Toni Costales - Servin (CA) opinion on this, my be where you are sharing this with your one-stop -- one step staff and partners and those mighty your business services team our employer liaison and sharing the PowerPoint with them and testing it out them first. And letting them see what it is and getting there by in two send this out. >> It was either con tact information on it. -- issue is still have your contact information on it at the business services liaison is what the business contacts might know and you should be working in tandem with them. And Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) you have any comments you would like to add to that? >> This is Kevin Nickerson (NY) this is the quickest route to getting to the mostpeople..What Miranda Kennedy expressed. Another thing that I have done, is when I am out doing outreach, to her chamber of commerce is over, I will actually have a laptop there was draws people in. And they will try these trainings and right next to it I have a sign-up sheet. That is how I draw in new people who were not previously on any list. >> And I built that way. >> Okay good. >> I have quite a few employers, not only, just as you do, going out meeting the one-on-one, but also, serving on the chamber of commerce or on our employer advisory Council. Other employers talk to other employers and then they call me and want to be put on the list. Also, I don't know if yours is referring to just employers, but I know that are used at -- you staff are taking examples out of the schools and showing it to the teachers and their requested to be put on the list. >> This brings up another great point Gregorio but I want to ask Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) what they think about it. Especially since some of these are very tailored. Some of his training that we have might be more appropriate for partners, or would you recommend that navigators look through each of these trainings to consider all the possible audiences and adjust who they include on that list based on each training or they send to all of the trainings to anyone who has expressed interest in any 30 second trainings >> I would like to say something about that. I know it has come up before. All the packages that we have done, I believe that there are so many out there, an employer might just be an employer, but that employer also might have a family member has a disability or information that we are sharing that they could utilize. I think the only one that I haven't, that I have even considered not sharing with every single person on my list is the ticket to work. That is what I am still considering, that it needs to be sent out to specific people but you never know who has family or friends that have a disability, especially with interest being so high, that they would need the information. >> That is a good point about the ticket to work one, that series, the case you might want to look at it. We don't want employers to ever get turned off by anything that is program specific but at the same time, it might be good information for them. It is a balance from 90% of the time something that is relevant to them as an employer or a member of the community or a family member or a person with a disability. What do you think Kevin Nickerson (NY) >> I like to get people's opinion on this, I am going to ignore the forehands that are up, but I wondering for the folks that are left on the line today, how many think that having a polished employer focused series of trainings would be something that we should pursue? >>Another Toni Costales - Servin (CA) and Miranda Kennedy have discussed it with me. We have all disgusted. We need a -- -- we have discussed it. Do you think that that is something that is worth spending some time developing? >> We are getting a good response to that. That makes sense. I agree with Toni Costales - Servin (CA) There are times when any of these trainings are good at any of the level but there are times when we are reaching out to people and we want to have that polish training that really focuses on the employers. The point of view. And their needs. That is my thought. I think we need a series and from the looks of our responses, it might be worth your efforts. >> Again, this is like Toni Costales - Servin (CA) was saying, she used her own discretion about whether or not she was heading up the ticket training. We want all of you is navigators to do. We are offering this to you as a tool in something you can use. But you are going to be the one who is in the best position of when and how to use this and with whom. >> You really know your local community and you know your partners and your employers there and your staff either. >>Would you say Toni Costales - Servin (CA) Was just thinking about the ticket to work as well. Everyone has the option to maybe use, they don't have to use the whole package, for instance, may be the first to get to work, just explaining what it is, it is good information, just general information, without having to use more in-depth information which the rest of the ticket package has. >> Depending on the use of the navigator, going through each one and depending or deciding who is going to go to. >> I think especially as we continue developing more serious, that may be targeted to different people. If we are developing a series that is targeted to employers, of course we are going to want to share that and using, as a mechanism to get that out to employers, our business services team. >> We are one navigators to duplicate anything that is Artie going on. For those of you who are new and navigators, you should be working with those who are already working with her populations. Yet people who are connected to employers. You need to be working with them instead of having to reinvent the wheel. >> I think that is a good thing to consider. We have some handset. Some other handset. In fact, I am going to call on Lynn in Michigan. >> How are you doing and what is your question? >> Can you hemi? >> Okay I forgot to take my hand down. It has been answered. I am good. Thank you. >> Just out of curiosity, what was the question. >> I have concerns about, as much as I love research and development, is it possible that the last slide, giving credit to the TBN collaborative, cannot be eliminated if somebody wanted to do that? >> I don't mean the navigator, I mean did recipient of the training? >> You are saying if somebody gets the information and they really like and they want to use it and forward it on at their own contact information on it or get rid of that slide? You know what? Of course we would prefer that not to happen, however, these are not copyrighted and only send them out there, on good days, we are happy to be getting this information out there and we doing it to be very polished. Of course, what are navigators are said to Al, we would have that line at the bottom to give credit where credit is due and hopefully any of your partners and staff will fill the same way. If there getting the information out there, that is what we are all about, is awareness.Do you would add to that Kevin Nickerson (NY) a Toni Costales - Servin (CA) I agree with you Miranda Kennedy we went to put that on there so that it showed our unity, in creating this, as a project initiative. >> Will other people use this? Yes we have seen other places that have nothing to do with our program have interest. I have been contacted by some places in universities that want to use it is contest becausewhat we have discovered is the 30 second trainings tool concept is prettypowerful.. It is not just for navigators. It is not just for initiatives. Others are seeing the value in this concept that has come out of this initiative. That is flattering and all I can say is what folks have asked, I have not only said that is fine. I appreciate you asking. I think that was really the point. >> We did spend a lot of time creating these matters the point in terms of remarks at the bottom. >>In Kevin Nickerson (NY) yet taken a bit of a spin on it. The 30 second trainings concept itself, I thought we were talking about the content within these getting passed on. The 30 second trainings concept, it is a great concept. I think Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) has meant a time time developing this and the missing it. It is great when people ask if they can use that. But of course, it is free information, it hasn't been copyrighted and people are awkward to use that strategy. In fact, Tony, if you want to discuss really quickly, the document that we have the describes how to create one of these from scratch. >> I'm not sure what to say other than there is a view pages, view pages, a document that lines at every single step that you need to create a PowerPoint on your own and then even some hints. >> What Kevin said, there are a lot of areas, a lot of agencies and people out there who appreciate the concept of the 30 second trainings just as much as we did. And you. >> And very welcome to create their own and utilize them. And we are happy to even help with that. With the outlying data the outline showing you how to create them, I am curious, the person that we are talking to, was is a concept that you are interested in? And why you want to take the information off or was it the content in the PowerPoint? Is it possible to get, to talk to her? >> Yes Lynn is still on the line. >> I understand he 30 second trainings concept is pretty universal. And just to the TPM collaborative. I think it is wonderful and I know how much work has gone into the series. I guess I was just being a little protective. >> We appreciate that. >> I do like the idea that the information gets out to whoever and wherever. So thank you. >> Thank you Lynn. I'm glad I asked. It is interesting because these 30 second trainings take a lot longer then 30 seconds to create. You would be surprised how much time we spent and spend developing the series. It is great that they are getting wide use and awareness around them an interest in them. We are thrilled about that. >> It is a huge compliment to everyone who has worked on these and everyone who is using them. One of the reasons want them to be professionally contained his information can be accessed locally and is fun and entertaining. >> In the meantime, it is great. Anyway, Kevin and Tony, >> Just a thought, Miranda Kennedy it would be interesting to find out from our navigators across the country , how many people each of those navigators and these trainings to. >> It would be interesting. >> I am always curious how many people do these trainings really reach? >> I think the number would be quite large as we have done so much work promoting these. Just a thought. For those of you still with us, we still have 48 people on the line, as we are coming close to the end, if you would like to, and the Post survey that will pop up on your screen where wrapping up, if you can add another comment section, if you can give us an estimate, that would be great. >> We might do more a formal follow, after October, Kevin, to find out, because you have new navigators coming on board and who are just now starting to use these, in order to get a more accurate current number, later this year in November or December? It would be great to hear from people on the line, 50 people, 150 people, are more? >> There are want to have very high numbers. Which is also why you need to be putting them in the categories. >> Do we have any other hands up? >> I think Gregorio might have a question. >> I actually was trying to figure out if I put it down already. >> You are tired. We understand. >> It is interesting. Out here, for the past years, it has been the Department of disability vocational rehabilitation division that has been doing the disability employment awareness month and this is the first time we are going to come into the Department of Labor to join ventures. We are looking forward to this one in the next couple of days, the meetings, to do a few things. I went to bring this one up to this one and take it from there. >> It is nice you can come to the table and the contributing misinformation. >> And you could say look what I have done. It and have your name on all of these trainings. >> It is interesting and I appreciate it and I'm looking forward to next week, the Guam teleconference. Thank you for all the work you have been doing. >> Of coarse. That is what we're here for. Gregorio. >> All right thank you Gregorio. That looks like it might be it. Are there any questions in the Q. and a are any last comments? Feedback you have on using these trainings? What people thought of the most recent ticket training? Did you send us out? We have a few more minutes if anyone else has one less common, would love to hear. We would love to have more opportunities to have some interaction with all of our navigators. >> These webinars are certainly one of their a reasons we like to make them a little less formal and have people speak up and do some interactions. It is hard for us to get together frequently. I am going to let Joe speak. >> I want to congratulate you, Kevin and Tony for the 30 second trainings It is my first one. And as the stately, on the VPN program in Puerto Rico, I found it a viable tool. We had a lot of great stuff here and if it wasn't for the TPM program, right now we would not have employers that are working with the ticket to work program. We would not have integrated the navigators into the one step centers with the regular funds and right now we are being very proactive. This morning I was calling all my navigators to start planning and activity for October. So we went to be very proactive great sometimes we just don't give enough credit for the stuff that we are doing here in Puerto Rico but this is a great tool and I know that a lot of my navigators have been participating in the 30 second trainings but it is my first one in congratulations. >> Thank you so much Joe. I hope you have been seeing those trainings since you have been talking about the employee network and how you are becoming an independent fund it network. >> Have easily ticket training to have gone up? >> Yes. >> We have been activating tickets and looking forward to looking forward to a great program year. >> And I know Kevin Nickerson (NY) you must be happy about hearing about Puerto Rico becoming an employment network and using the ticket series that we discussed earlier this month on September 2. >> Yes I am grinning and Joe, thank you, that was excellent feedback. We appreciate it. If you contact me, you are aware of additional resources to help you, not to sidetrack the show, but more about you to get venture. We are happy that you are using these trainings. >> Thank you guys. >> Thank you for the feedback Joe. >> You are doing great work and I think with that, it looks like we are pretty much out of comments which means we have hopefully answered everybody's question and if we haven't, I am going to put your contact information here on the last page hopefully everybody Artie has but if you don't, got that down. This information will be on the DP navigator.net website under the what's new page under the training page, under the resource page. It will be hard to miss. We put in multiple places that you can find it easily and if you can find it easily, just shoot us an e-mail. With that, I would like to thank Kevin Nickerson (NY) and Toni Costales - Servin (CA) for their hard work. It is a labor of love for the two of them. These trainings just keep getting better and better, more fun and interesting, great resources. Looking forward to future trainings. Sounds like we have an employer series in the development. >> We have a series that we are hoping to get out in the new year. And to all of you navigators, books have been around for a while and folks who are nor to the initiative, thank you for using these trainings and for all the great work you are out there doing at the local level. This is nothing without you. Tony and Kevin, any last comments as we are wrapping up here? >> From Kevin, just thank you for joining us. We had great attendance today. We counted over 70 at one point. That tells me there is still interest in this and folks are using these trainings and have ideas for future packages of trainings are particular training topics, please send them in because it will help us as we continue to make more of these. Thank you. >> I just want to thank everyone for their participation. And they're wonderful comments. >> Thank you everyone. Have a lovely day. >> [Event concluded]
