 Disability Program Navigator: Training ; August & September 2008 — New DPN Orientation and Training Webinar 3 Part Series 


Part I: Phases of DPN Implementation Maturity

August 26, 2008, 3pm - 4:30pm EDT

The first webinar, which was hosted by Laura Gleneck and presented by Miranda Kennedy and Danielle (DJ) Diamond with NDI Consulting, Inc. provided an overview of “The Phases of DPN Implementation Maturity”, and incorporated a discussion of the role the Navigator plays in facilitating movement of the One-Stop Career Centers through the phases of implementation maturity. This training covered four pivotal factors: 1. disability expertise related to employment, 2. accessibility of the One-Stop Career Center, 3. the level of problem-solving in which the DPN is primarily engaged, and 4. the sphere of influence through with the DPN is engaged to effect change.

Part II: Disability Program Navigator (DPN) Checklist

August 22, 2008, 3pm - 4:30pm EDT

The second webinar provided a walk through review and a discussion of “The Disability Program Navigator (DPN) Checklist” and attending resources. The DPN checklist was designed to assist new Disability Program Navigators in becoming knowledgeable about their role and its implementation within the Workforce Investment System. It was developed utilizing information and best practices from all three Rounds of DPN Projects encompassing 45 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. This webinar was hosted by Laura Gleneck and presented by Miranda Kennedy and Danielle (DJ) Diamond with NDI Consulting, Inc.

Part III : The Navigator Experience

September 2, 2008, 3pm - 4:30pm EDT

The third and final webinar in this series, “The Navigator Experience”, was hosted by Laura Gleneck with NDI Consulting, Inc. and featured two former Navigators (one of whom was also a DPN Project Lead) who are now part of the NDI Training and Technical Assistance team. Miranda Kennedy and Danielle (DJ) Diamond shared effective strategies and DPN best practices on the following two topic areas “The Navigator as a Resource Librarian” and “Establishing and Working with an Interagency Committee”.
